Water is a Big Deal

Water

Water is big deal in Colorado this summer. With a low snow year and little rain, the affect on Steamboat Springs is growing. The Steamboat Pilot reports of the Stagecoach dam releasing some precious water last week.  And now we have mandatory water restrictions throughout Steamboat Springs.

With the July 4th fireworks cancelled, and now the Yampa river being off limits to tubers and fishing, it’s going to be a tough summer regarding water.

Vitamin Cottage in Steamboat Springs, Colorado

Vitamin Cottage officially coming to Steamboat Springs

The Steamboat Pilot today confirmed what’s been the talk of the town for months: Vitamin Cottage is coming to Steamboat Springs. Locals are have mixed opinions on this. But I think deep down people are pretty excited. It’s not a Trader Joe’s but it’s a step in the right direction. This just makes our commute to get healthy food a little shorter. Plus, it mean one less trip to Boulder to pick up dried fruit and yummy stuff.

Fireworks Cancelled in Steamboat Springs on the 4th

Fireworks Cancelled in Steamboat Springs on the 4th

We were dreading this decision and today it’s official - Fireworks Cancelled in Steamboat Springs on the 4th. We saw this coming and knew if nothing changed, the 4th of July might not have fireworks.

But Steamboat is still a great place to spend the 4th and you should not cancel your trip just because there’s no fireworks. There’s still millions of things to do around town.

“In addition to the city’s fireworks display, Stewart said the city would be enforcing Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper’s executive order from last week that bans open burning and the private use of fireworks. Stewart said he interprets that to mean all fireworks, even sparklers.”

Steamboat today goes into more details here.

94% Use the Internet – That’s Why I Use Video In Real Estate

Sunday, June 17th, 2012

Over 94% of all consumers start their home search online.

If consumers are searching for real estate online, why not provide real estate buyers and sellers the best tools available?  I use video in real estate for many reasons, but primarily because video moves and more importantly, VIDEO MOVES PEOPLE.  Video is engaging. Video can bring to life what is the very core of real estate – emotions.

Video is Emotional. Video conveys so much more than pictures.  If a picture is worth a thousands words, video could be worth millions. How often are you drawn to a video because it elicits an emotion – be it happy or sad, video can be emotional.

Video is Real. With video, you can bring something to life. You can bring a home to a buyer thousands of miles away. You can show a buyer the neighborhood or what it’s like to fish in Steamboat.  You can show the public who you are and what you’re about.

A Sad Reality of Foreclosures in Steamboat Springs

The Sad Reality of Foreclosures in Steamboat Springs.

Over the last couple years, I showed this home located in an area called the Sanctuary in Steamboat Springs. It’s a high-end neighborhood near the Steamboat ski area and Fish Creek Falls. Most of the homes are between 3,500 and 7,000 square feet with value starting around $1,2 million up to $5 million.

This home was priced at $1,500,000.

For several months this home was offered for sale as a short sale. This home did not sell and thus it went to auction a few months ago. After it sold at the Routt county court house I made this video referencing this home in the Sanctuary.

Steamboat Springs Real Estate Market Report

Steamboat Springs Real Estate Market Report for April 2012

APRIL 2012 Steamboat Springs Real Estate Market Report.   We had 90 transactions in April for a total of $31M in sales.  Volume is down from last year but transaction numbers are up 25%.  Overall, April was a solid month in terms of continuing signs of stability. I see pending numbers still increasing and sales are strong.

Today, real estate in Steamboat Springs continues to heat up. It’s been a much more active market over the last 6 months and we continue to see improvements even in the slower “mud season.”

Another positive for the Steamboat Real Estate market was the Trailhead Lodge auction. Overall I’d say the auctions was a somewhat success. I feel the debt holder realized the true situation and are accepting the reality. They have closed 13 condo so far, mostly two bedroom units. I suspect more will close over the coming weeks.

No Firework in Steamboat Springs on the 4th?

No Firework in Steamboat Springs on the 4th?

Who knew that the lack of powder days in Steamboat Springs last winter would spoil the best fireworks show in Colorado on the 4th of July. Well, that might be the case.

**Updated information is not good news either. Our dry summer looks like it will remain dryer according to the Steamboat Today.

The Steamboat Pilot has reported that because of the extreme low snow year and dry conditions, that our 4th of July fireworks just might be a big fat dud this year. That’s right, Steamboat Springs 4th of July fireworks might get cancelled.

Steamboat Springs gets fireworks. They put on a spectacular fireworks show that people talk about for months. It takes place right in downtown Steamboat Springs or just on the other side of the Yampa river on the Howelsen Hill ski area.
