Historic Werner Family Home For Sale

Werner Home For Sale in Steamboat

Werner Home For Sale in Steamboat

The historic Werner family home located in Old Town Steamboat Springs, Colorado is on the market.  Former home of Hazie and Pop Werner, who raised three Olympians here in Steamboat Springs, the Werner family definitely made an impression upon this community.  In fact, the town changed the name of Storm Mountain (a.k.a. Steamboat’s ski mountain) to Mt. Werner because they were such a big deal here. A home this rich in history, charm, modernity and solitude simply do not exist here anymore; and yet, here it is!

The Craftsman-style home, built in 1920 and respectfully remodeled in 2005, sits upon a lush serene landscape. Located on a 1.47 acre oasis, the property is bordered with mature pines, aspens and blue spruce. Soda Creek flows on three sides of the home creating a private oasis.  The sound of the babbling creek combined with the soaring trees will make you forget that you are a mere 3 blocks from local schools, restaurants and shops downtown. This type of seclusion is just unheard of in the heart of Old Town.

 USA Pro Challenge Bike Race

The USA Pro Challenge Bike Race came into Steamboat Springs yesterday. A great turn out to watch Chris Froome, the 2013 Tour de France Champion and so many others. The backdrop could not be more spectacular.

After tackling the 105.9-mile route from Breckenridge to Steamboat Springs, 2013 Tour de France Sprint Jersey Winner Peter Sagan claimed Stage 3 of the USA Pro Challenge. Lachlan David Morton held onto the Leader Jersey and will wear it during today’s challenging stage from Steamboat Springs to Beaver Creek.

Charlie

The Hub of Steamboat – The Buddy Werner Library

The Hub of Steamboat – The Buddy Werner Library

Buddy Werner Steamboat Library

Buddy Werner Steamboat Library

The library can be a hub of a community; they serve as community builders, community centers, and inspiration all. Steamboat Springs’ Bud Werner Memorial Library certainly exemplifies that sentiment.

Although Steamboat’s first library was established in 1887, the original Bud Werner Memorial Library was built in 1967 in memory of Steamboat’s beloved hometown hero, ski icon and Olympic athlete Wallace “Buddy” Werner. When Bud passed tragically in an avalanche in the Swiss Alps people from around the world contributed to construct a library in his honor.

In 2008, the library underwent a major renovation and expansion bringing it to over 35,000 sq. ft.. Incorporating stringent energy efficiency practices and sustainable materials earned this community resource Silver LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The stunning architecture allows for true enjoyment of Steamboat Springs. A wall of windows overlooks the Yampa River and sulphur springs, outdoor patio spaces for reading while soaking up the sun and grassy knolls for relaxing and watching community theater performances.

Make $75,000 on Your Vacation Home

Make $75,000 on Your Vacation Home in Steamboat

Wouldn’t it be nice to make $75,000 on your vacation home here in Steamboat Springs, Ski Town USA?  I’ve written a lot on 2660 Alpenglow Way and there’s a reason for that! It is a hidden gem that is in its own little world:

  • -It’s a town home but feels and acts like a single family home.
  • -It comes with high-end luxury furnishing…….but it’s just not over the top.
  • -It has a 900 lb. dining room table that seats 16 but it’s not ostentatious-hard to believe.
  • -It’s comfortable, welcoming and family friendly and….it has a great rental history.
  • -Alepenglow Way home is situated on the mountain so the views look over the rooftops down the valley. You feel like you are out of town but you are “on The Mountain”.
  • -Because if its location, you have privacy but you are a block away from a free bus stop.
  • -You have a private home with RENTAL INCOME!

Ski Town, USA now Dog Town, USA

Ski Town, USA now Dog Town, USA

Dog Town, USA

Dog Town, USA

We all know that Steamboat Springs is an amazing place to live and play. It’s called Ski Town, USA and Bike Town, USA for good reason. But now Dog Town, USA? What’s next?

Steamboat was appropriately trademarked Ski Town USA for its World Class skiing facilities and loads of fresh champagne powder. National Geographic named The ‘Boat as one of the World’s 25 Best Ski Towns.  Not to mention more winter Olympians, 79 to be exact, call Steamboat Springs their hometown – more than any other town in the US.

More recently, Steamboat has adopted the identity of Bike Town USA. With 500+ miles of singletrack, endless road cycling  opportunities, BMX tracks, the Core Trail system and a community of passionate cyclists, Bike Town USA is a well-earned brand. In 2011 the League of American Bicyclists acknowledged Steamboat’s efforts and dedication to cycling by naming it a Gold level Bicycle Friendly Community. Residents will once again enjoy a stage of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge later this month along with a week’s worth of cycling races and activities.

Real Estate Market Report for June

Real Estate Market Report for June, 2013

Routt County

June was a good month, the second best of 2013. But compared to last June, this month was down by -28.99% from June 2012.  The Year to Date gross volume picture is a little brighter  up +7.57% over last year’s gross at the end of the second quarter.  On a transaction basis, June was only slightly down by -0.92%, while the Year to Date is up +14.26%.

Looking at the numbers below, everything is up. Sales are up. Sold properties are up. But so is the inventory. Thus, we might be seeing a steadying of prices.
