Celebrities’ Homes and Real Estate – Are they Worth More?

There’s an obsession with celebrities and real estate. Nirvana star Kurt Cobain’s home was recently listed with local Aberdeen Realty, Inc. Yet a boost in marketing is being put forth by “The Agency.” They are a nationally recognized real estate company specializing in . . . well, special homes. Is Cobain’s childhood home worth $500,000?  As a home it is not. But with the significance, it might be worth more than market value – which is much less.

Recently the N.Y. Times wrote about Calvin Klein’s new home in the Southampton, New York.  This home is drawing a lot of attention. But is it the home or the celebrity status of the owner?   Is a home worth more with celebrity status?

Altitude Sickness Advice

If you are visiting Steamboat Springs from a lower altitude, you may experience some symptoms of “Altitude Sickness “ or “ Acute Mountain Sickness.” Steamboat Springs, Colorado is at 6,728 ft. elevation and the top of the ski area is 10,568 ft.. Although this is not terribly high, it is still not sea level. Acute altitude sickness usually presents above 8,000 ft. so we are a little safer here. But everyone is different and you may be more susceptible to the change in altitude than someone else.

As you climb in altitude, the air becomes thinner, the humidity decreases, and the air gets colder. Lack of atmospheric pressure is the true cause of altitude sickness. The amount of oxygen you get into your body due to reduced pressure is less. Because of the low levels of oxygen, your body tries to adjust by increasing blood flow to your brain. This typically occurs 8-36 hours after your ascent to higher altitude.
