Catch the Drift With the Yampa River Festival

Water. Water is vital to the existence of our people and planet.

The Yampa Valley is blessed with copious amounts of good, clean, cold water that comes from snow melt. It feeds our rivers and reservoirs providing miles and miles of recreational use, habitat for fish and animals, and drinking water for our neighbors downstream. In honor of this great resource, and to raise awareness and educate the public, Leadership Steamboat and the Friends of the Yampa have put together Water Week – a week of educational offerings, film screenings, and gatherings revolving around water and Yampa River stewardship.

Thursday, May 28th marks the launch of the Catch the Drift campaign by Leadership Steamboat. The goal is to educate locals and visitors by emphasizing good stewardship of the Yampa River. The group will develop and install signage along key parts of the Yampa River, and sell Stewardship Kits containing a reusable water bottle, Catch the Drift stickers and handouts in a mesh bag, and is hosting a fundraising event at the Chief Theater featuring speakers, an auction and more.

Craig is rich in cowboy and ranching heritage and is known by some as the “Elk Hunting Capital of the World”.  The town’s economy benefits from hunting and winter travelers but the main employers are the hospital and coal mines. In recent years, a number of professionals have moved into the area with the construction of the Memorial Hospital and Colorado Northwestern Community College. Lack of housing options is the #1 complaint of these professionals.

Opportunity in Old Town Steamboat

Located near downtown Steamboat Springs, close to Stehley Park, Butcherknife Creek and Butcherknife Trail, this legal duplex is a great opportunity. With both units rented it generates $3,800 per month or live in one half while offsetting mortgage payments by renting the other half or move Grandma and Grandpa into one half so that you can keep an eye on them while living in the other half. The possibilities are plentiful.

Unit 161 sits over a 2 car garage and workshop. The large open floor plan, vaulted ceiling and natural light create an inviting space, great for entertaining and families.

The kitchen offers plenty of counter space done in butcher block and cherry wood cabinets.

Stainless steel appliances, appliance storage cubbies and abundant natural light.

Gas cooktop and cool designs in the butcher block countertops.

2015 USA Pro Challenge Kicks Off in Steamboat Springs

For the 3rd time in 5 years, the USA Pro Challenge will make an appearance in Steamboat Springs. This time Steamboat will kick off the weeklong cycling event with a new circuit through some scenic backroads followed by the start of Stage 2 where the cyclists will head over Rabbit Ears Pass and end the day at Arapahoe Basin.

This is such a great event and our community holds nothing back when celebrating and cheering on the professional cyclists. Here is a video I shot of the race its first year through Steamboat Springs in 2011.

Here are all the details of the upcoming professional cycling race from the USA Pro Challenge website:
