Home Affordability and Interest Rates. Is it time to buy?

One of the most frequently asked questions when buying a home is “Can I afford it?” Well, this will vary depending on your income, expenses, existing debts, and what you are comfortable paying. Not to mention a host of other factors such as interest rates, down payments, credit availability and so forth.

And one of the more frequently discussed topics nation wide, is access to affordable housing (or the lack thereof). But what exactly is affordable housing?  Affordable housing is a term used to describe housing that is -affordable to those with a median household income in that region/area/city. This applies to both renters and owners who live in their own homes. The current US government guideline for affordability is that housing cost does not exceed 30% of a household’s gross income.

Sometimes An Indoor Kitchen Just Isn’t Enough

Outdoor kitchens are in high demand, there’s no doubt about it. But just like their indoor relative, the best outdoor kitchens are designed with careful consideration. Here is what we consider a perfect example:

Function & Flow

Having separate wet, cold, hot and dry zones with ample counter space makes prepping food, cooking and cleaning up afterwards that much easier.

An open air chefs kitchen

Location

Ideally your outdoor kitchen will be located close to your indoor kitchen as inevitably you will have to dash in for items. This kitchen also has a fabulous sliding pass through window to the indoor kitchen area, the ultimate in convenience.

Adjacent to the outdoor dining area, the cook will always feel included

Comfort

Create an inviting social space so that the cook can mingle with the guests. And don’t forget lighting in your design – look for a combination of task and mood lighting.
