Getting Your Ski Legs Back – The Importance of Ski Conditioning and When to Begin… Right Now

Screen Shot 2017-10-06 at 10.37.33 AM

Skiing and snowboarding are not only fun, exhilarating ways to get some fresh air, and to spend some time with friends and family in our beautiful Rocky Mountains. They are also physically demanding activities. That’s why it’s so important to be proactive, not reactive, and to prepare for the upcoming season with a good ski conditioning regimen, says Emily Harris, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) at Steamboat Spine & Sports Physical Therapy. No one knows how much strain skiing and snowboarding can put on our bodies like physical therapists. They’re the ones who deal with all the injuries that can result from imbalances and weaknesses in the body.

“Even if you’re already in great shape from trail running or mountain biking, skiing and riding on the mountain is going to test your body in different ways. If you’re not ready, you are more likely to sustain an injury. So, preparing your body for it is crucial,” Harris says. “It’s important to start training a couple months out.” With the recent snowfall in the Yampa Valley, that time is now.

A Day in the Life of a Rodeo Cowboy

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A RODEO COWBOY

It takes a lasso and a skilled rider to catch up with Cole Dorenkamp, who has competed in the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series. Steamboat Sothebys thought it would be fun to get a unique perspective on the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series and what it is like to be a rodeo cowboy.

Screen Shot 2017-07-11 at 4.26.47 PM

Cell phone reception cuts in and out as Cole Dorenkamp heads south to Texas to take his horses to the vet, for no other reason except to make sure they’re ready for the Greeley Stampede over the Fourth of July weekend. The way Dorenkamp explains it, a cowboy is only as good as his horse. Life as a rodeo cowboy means lots of time on the road, mostly to places that don’t have great phone reception and Dorenkamp wouldn’t have it any other way. Raised in a rodeo family, Dorenkamp can’t even remember the first time he got on a horse. Competing wasn’t so much a choice as his birth-right.

Farm & Ranch to Table – Steamboat Springs Style

How to throw your own Steamboat-style BBQ using fresh, local ingredients.

Screen Shot 2017-06-06 at 11.12.48 AM

Coloradoans live for summertime – those 3-4 short months from June to September when fresh local produce is in abundance. But one thing we have year-round when it comes to fresh, local ingredients is meat. With several working ranches that sell product direct to market, it’s a meat lover’s dream when it comes to preparing some of the best quality meats available anywhere in the world. The best way to celebrate the bounty of seasonal produce and to let local ingredients shine is with a backyard summer BBQ. With the BBQ season upon us, we met up with local chef Lulu Cox, owner of Amuse Bouche, for some advice on how to create the perfect Steamboat summer BBQ.

Emotion, The Key To Selling Real Estate

Emotion, The Key To Selling Real Estate

Whether we realize it or not, it isn’t logic that drives most of our life decisions. We make decisions based on an emotional response and then use facts to rationalize our choices. Successful businesses have one key factor in common – they market their products to tap into peoples emotions, whether it be selling an image, a lifestyle, or our own personal values.

Buying a home is one of the biggest investments one makes in their lifetime. And being that a home is a personal escape, a place to raise our family, to be part of a community – or not to be, it is also one of the biggest emotional decisions one makes. Before purchasing a property buyers might have a checklist of wants and needs. But after looking at looking at 10 or 30 homes, it is the property they felt the strongest connection to that will get the offer. And this connection needs to begin the moment the buyers see that listing, so when they walk through that door a psychological link has been established.

The Magic of Fall in Steamboat Springs, Colorado

B ski

Spectacular landscapes and crisp fresh air, possibly the most magical time of the year!

Fabulous color can be found throughout Routt County at the moment, and is there a better place to enjoy it than from the sanctuary of your own home? Well, certainly not if you are the owner of 2890 Bucks Path in Elkins Meadow. This 7,400+ custom home is nestled in the mountains, mere minutes from downtown Steamboat Springs. Take a glimpse of fall from a new perspective:

B Nook 2

Whether inside the home or out, the varying hues of red, yellow, purple, black, orange, pink, magenta, blue and brown makes a dramatic statement. To put it simply, it’s breathtaking.

B Reeds

The current owners describe the neighborhood and environment surrounding their home as national park-esque…  and we can certainly see why.
