Emotion, The Key To Selling Real Estate

Whether we realize it or not, it isn’t logic that drives most of our life decisions. We make decisions based on an emotional response and then use facts to rationalize our choices. Successful businesses have one key factor in common – they market their products to tap into peoples emotions, whether it be selling an image, a lifestyle, or our own personal values.

Buying a home is one of the biggest investments one makes in their lifetime. And being that a home is a personal escape, a place to raise our family, to be part of a community – or not to be, it is also one of the biggest emotional decisions one makes. Before purchasing a property buyers might have a checklist of wants and needs. But after looking at looking at 10 or 30 homes, it is the property they felt the strongest connection to that will get the offer. And this connection needs to begin the moment the buyers see that listing, so when they walk through that door a psychological link has been established.

Sometimes An Indoor Kitchen Just Isn’t Enough

Outdoor kitchens are in high demand, there’s no doubt about it. But just like their indoor relative, the best outdoor kitchens are designed with careful consideration. Here is what we consider a perfect example:

Function & Flow

Having separate wet, cold, hot and dry zones with ample counter space makes prepping food, cooking and cleaning up afterwards that much easier.

An open air chefs kitchen

Location

Ideally your outdoor kitchen will be located close to your indoor kitchen as inevitably you will have to dash in for items. This kitchen also has a fabulous sliding pass through window to the indoor kitchen area, the ultimate in convenience.

Adjacent to the outdoor dining area, the cook will always feel included

Comfort

Create an inviting social space so that the cook can mingle with the guests. And don’t forget lighting in your design – look for a combination of task and mood lighting.

The program is part of the “Every Kid in a Park” initiative, an administrative-wide effort among the National Park Service, Forest Service, Dept. of Education, Fish & Wildlife Service, National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration and others, to get all children to visit and enjoy the outdoors and inspire a new generation of Americans to experience their country’s unrivaled public lands and waters.

As of September 1st, every fourth-grader in the nation will receive an “Every Kid in a Park” pass that’s good for free admission — for them and their families — to all of America’s federal lands and waters for a full year. Students just need to sign up online and they will then get a voucher that grants entrance to the student and a carload of passengers to federal recreation areas for one year.

Steamboat School’s Recognized as Best in the State

I’ve blogged about it before but Steamboat has been recognized with this award since the Colorado Department of Education began labeling schools with it four years ago. To reach the “Accredited with Distinction” award, a school must earn 80% or more of available points based on academic achievement, academic growth, reducing academic growth gaps, and postsecondary and workforce readiness.

Three of Steamboat’s schools – the middle school, high school and Strawberry Park Elementary School – were given the John Irwin Award. This honor is bestowed upon schools that show sustained academic excellence.
