No Firework in Steamboat Springs on the 4th?

Who knew that the lack of powder days in Steamboat Springs last winter would spoil the best fireworks show in Colorado on the 4th of July. Well, that might be the case.

**Updated information is not good news either. Our dry summer looks like it will remain dryer according to the Steamboat Today.

The Steamboat Pilot has reported that because of the extreme low snow year and dry conditions, that our 4th of July fireworks just might be a big fat dud this year. That’s right, Steamboat Springs 4th of July fireworks might get cancelled.

Steamboat Springs gets fireworks. They put on a spectacular fireworks show that people talk about for months. It takes place right in downtown Steamboat Springs or just on the other side of the Yampa river on the Howelsen Hill ski area.

Often skiers “pray for snow” to start the ski season. Well Steamboat Springs, let’s start “praying for rain.” The rivers need it, and Steamboat Springs needs rain to save out 4th of July fireworks in 2012. But there’s many more reasons to come to Steamboat over the 4th of July weekend. The parade is amazing and there’s Steamboat youth concerts, kids stuff, art walk, alpine slide, art in park and balloon stampede and don’t forget about the Steamboat rodeo and so much more.
