Autumn Has Arrived in Steamboat Springs, Colorado

According to the calendar, the first day of fall won’t be “official” until the arrival of the autumnal equinox on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Judging by the stellar views of the mountains surrounding Steamboat Springs this weekend, however, I’d say that autumn is here.

For more information about  a fun autumn festival coming up in Steamboat Springs, check out Celebrate Fall With The Fourth Annual Steamboat OctoberWest.

I took a ride on the gondola at the Steamboat Ski Area  yesterday to get a better view of  all the beautiful changes that are occurring to our landscape this time of year.

From some of the photographs I’ve posted, you can see that I was treated to views that were nothing short of spectacular.

Stands of aspens all throughout the area have begun to change into their fall apparel, clothing themselves with the seemingly infinite palate of yellow, gold and brown that is their customary uniform this time of year.  To watch them shimmer and sparkle when touched by the autumn breeze is as magical as being perched front and center at a performance of the New York City Ballet, watching the beauty and complexity of the dance unfold.

Add to that the fiery reds and oranges which have begun to make their appearance on the oak and cottonwood trees,as well as the bushes and shrub along many of the local trails under a perfect Colorado blue sky and you have the recipe for an amazing fall day.

If you’re thinking of making a trip to Steamboat Springs, now is the time.  The abundance of spectacular local hiking and mountain biking trails will provide you with ample opportunities to get up close and personal with the trees, get back to yourself  and truly immerse yourself in all of the bountiful beauty Steamboat Springs has to share with you.  I look forward to seeing you in town soon!

Regards,

Charlie
