Steamboat Ski Resort’s Opening Day Tradition

We are one week away from the official opening of our ski season here in Steamboat Springs! Since 1991 the Steamboat Ski & Resort has so generously supported the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club by giving its opening day, also known as “Scholarship Day“, revenues to the local Club. Since 1991/92, the Ski Resort’s Scholarship Day has raised nearly $850,000 for the Winter Sports Club. Pretty impressive, don’t you think? Tickets will be between $20 – $30 dollars. They will determine that soon. Depends on snow conditions and how many lifts will be open.

Steamboat’s Opening Day Tradition

Scholarship Day marks the first day of the 2014-2015 season with revenues from the day’s specially priced ticket benefiting the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Scholarship Fund. Scholarship Day has raised nearly $850,000 since 1991/92. This fund provides financial support for deserving local children participating in Club programs. In fact, the Club is one of the oldest and most recognized ski clubs in the United States and has named three times as the United States Ski & Snowboard Association’s Club of the Year.
