Guide to Steamboat Parks and Trails

Steamboat Springs has 28 Parks, miles of bicycle and walking paths, and 2,500 acres of open space. In general, all are open year round. Weather can limit which activities you can do and some open spaces have closures due to trail condition and wildlife protection, like elk calving season.

Our parks offer the traditional multitude of recreational opportunities and facilities. We have everything from picnic tables to horseshoe pits. However, we do offer some non-traditional specialties you won’t’ find in a lot of towns like natural hot springs and rodeo grounds. In addition, don’t overlook the Yampa River Botanic Park.

Open-Space

Our Open-space is an integral part of the Steamboat springs lifestyle and our Colorado heritage. With over 2,500 acres of undeveloped land, the open space provides recreational opportunities, wildlife habitat, and helps preserves agricultural land.  The Open Space & Trails Master Plan states:  “ . (our) open space reinforces the area’s outstanding quality of life by protecting the resources that keep the landscape rural and the community character intact” .
