Steamboat Springs Ski Area Closes Due to Strong Winds.  It doesn’t happen all that often but with winds gusting to 123MPH, it’s not safe to ski or run the lifts.

All night the winds picked up and by early morning the winds were ripping westerly. Not a usual direction. And because of that, there’s been some excessive damage done in many areas around Steamboat Springs. Thanks to John Russell, Matt Stensland, Matthew Grasse and Caitlyn McKenzie for these photos.

The good news is that weather is coming bringing new snow. The bad news it’s so windy the snow isn’t sticking and it’s blowing to Craig.
